Mussorgsky, Khovantchina: Introduction: ?Dawn on the Moscow River?; Rachmaninoff, Piano Concerto No. 2 (with Yuja Wang); Chen Qigang, Iris d?voil?e
East meets West as China?s oldest Western-style orchestra offers Iris devoil?e (Iris Unveiled), a dreamy reflection on the ?eternal feminine? featuring traditional Chinese voices and instruments. Representing the West are Mussorgsky and Rachmaninoff, two giants of Russian Romanticism. The 22-year-old piano prodigy Yuja Wang, hailed by Gramophone Magazine for her ?blazing technique and a rare insinct for poetry,? is the soloist in the monumental ?Rach 2.?
